Arsenal icon Sol Campbell believes Nigerian attacker Victor Osimhen can help the Gunners reach their Premier League title goal this season.
Arsenal’s attacking players, Leandro Trossard, Eddie Nketiah, and Gabriel Jesus, have scored 14 goals in all competitions this season, a position Campbell believes is not welcoming enough for the Gunners.
So far this season, Arsenal as a team has scored 26 Premier League goals while conceding 10. They are now third in the rankings with 27 points from 12 games, one point behind first-placed Manchester City.
This implies that the Gunners still have a strong chance of winning the Premier League crown against City, who have scored 32 goals in the league so far.
As a result, Sol Campbell believes that before Arsenal can challenge for the league title, they need a striker capable of scoring 20 to 25 Premier League goals per season.
According to Campbell, the best candidate for the Gunners is Victor Osimhen, who helped Napoli win the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years by scoring 26 goals and contributing five assists.
Aside from Osimhen, another striker connected with Arsenal is Brentford’s Ivan Toney, who is currently serving a ban for violating betting regulations.
When asked who his ideal striker for Arsenal is, Campbell said, “Osimhen.” Is he going to be too expensive? Ivan (Toney) is there. I believe they are competent (in other parts of the pitch). Centre forward is one position where they may need to look into the possibilities, see what’s available, or wait until next season.
“However, if the right person comes along, an out-and-out striker who can unlock those tight games, knows what to do in those positions, and also keeps defense occupied to free up other people, they should consider it for Christmas, and if not, definitely next season.” I believe the proper individual will relieve the strain on the team.”
