The Buffalo Bills have reportedly made a significant addition to their offense by signing Curtis Samuel to a three-year contract worth $24 million.
The deal could be worth up to $30 million, with $15 million guaranteed, according to a report by Adam Schefter, an ESPN Senior NFL Insider. While the news broke late on Thursday afternoon, it was greeted with enthusiasm by members of the Bills Mafia.
Samuel brings a certain level of familiarity with him to Buffalo: he was a wide receiver with the Carolina Panthers during the 2020 NFL season when Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady was in the same position. Additionally, Bills general manager Brandon Beane was an assistant general manager for the Panthers when Samuel was drafted by Carolina in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
With this knowledge in mind, it is possible that the Bills’ front office and coaching staff are confident in Samuel’s ability to thrive in Buffalo’s offensive scheme. Ultimately, Samuel’s signing could be a significant move for the Bills’ wide receiver corps, but only time will tell how impactful he will be on the field.
