Michael Badgley, the kicker who joined the Detroit Lions in 2022 but was beaten out for the starting job by Riley Patterson last season, is getting another chance with the team on a one-year free-agent deal. Badgley eventually joined the practice squad and was able to secure the starting job from Patterson in December, making all seven field-goal attempts, including all three attempts in the playoffs. He matched a franchise playoff record with his 54-yard long field goal. With this new contract, Badgley will have another opportunity to prove himself on the field as the Lions’ kicker.
