Victor Boniface, the Super Eagles’ budding star, wanted to treat his grandma to a trip to Germany after his international break with the Nigerian squad.
Victor Boniface was in Nigeria during the November international break, when the Super Eagles faced Lesotho and Zimbabwe in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Despite his spectacular form at Bayer Leverkusen this season, he was unable to assist the Super Eagles win against the two lowly-ranked teams, as both games ended in a 1-1 draw.
While most Super Eagles fans are dissatisfied with the squad as a whole, Victor Boniface chose to use the November international break to make his grandmother happy.
The 22-year-old striker posted photos on Instagram of himself flying his grandmother to Germany earlier today, November 21. One of the photos was labeled “mama” and “Germany way” by him.
Victor Boniface wanted to surprise his grandma by flying her to Germany following his international break with the Nigerian squad.
Victor Boniface’s grandmother is anticipated to see her grandson play for the first time when he leads Bayer Leverkusen against Werder Bremen in the German Bundesliga at the Weserstadion. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 25.
According to Naija News, the former Bodo/Glimt striker, who was born in Akure, Nigeria’s southern region, grew up under the supervision of his grandparents.
Because his grandfather was in the army, Boniface grew up in a military barrack alongside his grandparents.
Little is known about his father, and according to Naija News, Boniface’s mother died in a vehicle accident years before he became a football hero.
He has 11 goals and 6 assists in 16 games in all competitions since joining Bayer Leverkusen from Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer transfer window for a cost of €20.50 million.
