Amazing: Kirby Smart of Georgia agreed to a contract extension, making him the highest-paid college football head coach at $13 million annually.

Georgia’s Kirby Smart is officially the highest-paid football coach in the nation. Smart and the Bulldogs have reached an agreement for a contract extension starting in 2024, the team said Thursday. His new agreement, worth $13 million in 2024, will last until the 2033 season.

Smart’s new contract will propel him above Dabo Swinney of Clemson to become the highest-paid football coach in the country. Swinney will make $11 million in 2024.

Smart’s average annual compensation will increase by $1.75 million under the two-year agreement, compared to his previous contract. The deal doubles his maximum bonus from $1.3 million to $1.5 million.

Smart’s new deal replaces the 10-year, $110 million extension he signed in 2022 after winning his first national championship.
