Harrison Ingram, the 6-foot-7 junior forward from Dallas, Texas, has a unique passion for mathematics that has accompanied him ever since he can remember. Being an econ major at Stanford and UNC, his interest in math is something that sets him apart from his friends and peers. Although he admits that it is weird to love mathematics, he takes pride in owning it. Solving hard problems in mathematics is, according to Harrison, as satisfying as being on the court, playing basketball. Tyrous Ingram, Harrison’s father, suggests that his son’s love of mathematics may have come from both parents, who have a background in business and environmental chemistry. However, he stresses that schools Harrison attended have played a significant role in developing his son’s math skills. Growing up, Harrison learned to think critically and to speak his mind without worrying about what others think of him.
