Moses Simon, a winger for the Super Eagles, has apologized to the team’s supporters after the squad’s unsteady start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
The West Africans’ first qualifying match saw them struggle to a 1-1 draw with Lesotho.
In the Eagles’ second game on Sunday at Huye Stadium in Butare, Rwanda, they similarly came back to tie 1-1 with Zimbabwe.
Simon’s and his teammates’ poor performances in the two games have drawn harsh criticism.
The Nantes player begged supporters on social media.
The former Levante player posted on X, saying, “Not the outcome we wanted but we will surely bounce back.”
“We sincerely apologize to our supporters; you are deserving of better than what we gave versus Lesotho and Zimbabwe. We have already conquered a great deal of ground. And now is your chance to think things through and bounce back stronger.
In June 2024, the Super Eagles will play their next game at home against South Africa.
